Meet the Director – Daniel Mellors
At the heart of Ideal Cars is our Company Director, Daniel Mellors (affectionately known to many as Vern). A licensed driver since 2010, Daniel has been a consistent and respected presence in the taxi industry for over a decade.
Since founding Ideal Cars in 2015, he has remained the driving force behind its success, bringing a hands-on leadership style rooted in his background in industrial management. This blend of experience and people-first thinking has shaped the culture of Ideal Cars into what it is today—professional, personable, and committed to excellence.
Born and bred in Hucknall, Daniel’s strong ties to the area have played a huge part in his motivation to create a company that serves the local community with pride. His passion for the town, its people, and its future is a constant influence in how Ideal Cars operates day to day. Daniel remains active as a driver and can often be spotted out on the road in his minibus—still doing what he loves and staying connected to both customers and drivers alike.
Away from the business side, Daniel is also involved in supporting local causes and charities, often looking for ways Ideal Cars can give back to the communities it serves. His management style is best described as straight-talking and passionate, with a strong focus on raising standards, building trust, and getting things done. It’s that same energy and dedication that continues to push Ideal Cars forward.

Meet Our Business Development Manager – Dale Thompson
A key part of the Ideal Cars journey since 2016, Dale Thompson originally joined us as a driver before stepping into the role of Business Development Manager in 2020. With a private hire license dating back to 2010 and a strong background in customer service, Dale brings both frontline experience and strategic insight to the team.
His role is central to the ongoing growth of Ideal Cars. Whether it’s increasing our bookings, expanding the driver fleet, or identifying opportunities to move into new areas, Dale is constantly working behind the scenes to push the business forward. He also manages and strengthens relationships with both our service partners—like the teams behind our dispatch systems—and the clients who book with us, ensuring we’re always delivering a reliable and efficient experience.
With a sharp eye for current trends, a natural flair for customer engagement, and a problem-solving mindset, Dale has helped shape Ideal Cars into the thriving, customer-focused company it is today. And he’s not finished yet—he’s committed to improving every day.
